WordPress 2.3 – Fatal error: Cannot redeclare register_sidebars() – No Widgets Required!
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare register_sidebars() (previously declared in eastwoodzhao.com/wp-includes/widgets.php:15) in eastwoodzhao.com/wp-content/plugins/widgets/widgets.php on line 42
Is that what you saw after upgrading to WordPress 2.3 and activating your Automattic Widgets Plugin?
The problem, obviously, lies within the Widgets plugin. The solution is beyond simple. No worries! With version 2.3, Widgets are automatically included within the WordPress backbone. That’s why when you try to activate an existing Widget plugin, it gives you an error message and tells you that the plugin is already running. All you have to do now, is to remove the Widgets plugin from the “Plugins” folder and carry on with your blogging.

Cool, thanks… Never knew that, but what do I know about these things? I am a fast learner, but there are so many things that I need to learn and hopefully one day, I will be an internet guru.
