UBC’s Internet Speed is Insanely Fast
Currently, it is 1:36 AM. I’ve finally settled into rez @ Vanier, Robson house.
Before I get to Sauder Frosh 2008, moving in…etc., let me just say:

UBC’s internet speed is freaken fast! 9464 KBits/Sec translates to (divide that by 8 ) 1183 KB/S (the unit we see on a day-to-day basis) which translates to 1.2 MB/S! In other words, a regular 700 MB movie would take 10 minutes to download! I can’t help but to use exclamation marks! No wonder there’s a 6 GB bandwidth limit for every 24 hours. By this rate, one could easily burn up to 100 GB in a single day.
Ahh… boy oh boy is it sweet. I’m enjoying my room… big time! Will update later about the crazy weekend I had.
Gotta catch some sleep now and get all pumped and ready for Imagine UBC tomorrow (or uh… today!). Later!

Don’t worry, there is a way to get around the bandwidth limits that they place on us. Direct file sharing does not take up bandwidth and there is a big network in residence. You just need a client like DC++ (there is a Linux version for Ubuntu). Just connect to rezhub.zapto.org:9306 and you will have over 14TB of stuff to choose from. Enjoy!

Wish I had your connection speed, but I’m unfortunately stuck with Comcast.
