The Absurdity of Vancouver Drivers

I was woken up yesterday by a phone call from a close family friend of mine: he had gotten into a serious car accident. Luckily, apart from a fractured sternum (chest bone), he’s mostly scratch-free. Long story short: a truck drove into his path.

This is a follow-up on my defensive driving posts.

Last night was particularly foggy. On my drive from UBC to Victoria Dr. via SW Marine drive, I noticed the following: watch out, there are stupid drivers out there. On a foggy night like last night, people continued to drive as if they were on a race track. I saw drivers swirling in and out of traffic, speeding, tail-gating… it’s bloody foggy out there for cryin’ out loud!

No wonder accidents occur.

Today, I was driving on Kingsway towards Royal Oak. As usual, a handful of speeders and tailgaters. I find it really amusing how these drivers speed off, zoom in and out of traffic, brake a ton, and then end up getting stuck at a red light, while I cruise past them without even accerlating.

Please, my beloved fellow Vancouver drivers: use some common sense!

I even saw a guy in an old Honda Civic doing a bit of a burn-out start from a red light, before braking hard to prevent himself from ramming into the car up front.  Sigh.

Driving in the fog is definitely a time to be extremely cautious.

I’d kill myself if I drove in fog. No joke. Bad eye sight.

I like never visit your site. I remember last year I used it for practice provincials haha. And don’t ask me why I ended up here tonight.

Anyways, on to my point.. I KNOW! Bad drivers are everywhereee and they go super fast, risking their lives just so they can be like a car ahead of you at the next red light.
    Overall gain: zero.
It just doesn’t make sense. But (don’t) worry, it’s the same in pretty much every country.

Anywho.. Good luck on the cs111 exam in 14 hours.

Though, after experiencing the cruel wind and snow… 2 cheers for the bus and 1 for cars?

Accidents happen when we don’t have a discipline in ourselves. So please, lets be more careful.
