There is something wrong with the reports here. I am now staying in Shanghai and has first hand news and tracking this event daily.

The argument is NOT between the proprietor and the government. No. The argument is between the developer and the proprietor. The developer refused to give compensation to the proprietor in accordance to rights accorded to the proprietor by the law. However, the developer does have the rights to give any kind of deals to the proprietor according to law. So, both sides insists on their own rights resulting in the event we saw.

Hey Eastwood.

You know, I’m glad they were able to get some good pub for their stance and all that, but I tend to agree with Chino. I would have liked to see that house stay there for a good long time and really drive that point home. Obviously I have no way of knowing whether they got paid off or not, and I’d lie to think not. But whether cash was involved or not, I think another month or so would have been stronger. Much longer than that and it probably would have faded from the headlines and lost its effectiveness.

Yeah well. I guess the thing is they had the courage to stand up to the Powers That Be, and a whole lot of folks wouldn’t even do that for 5 minutes…
