Second Semester Professors
I just wanted to say that my courses & professors for this semester are truly wonderful:
COMM 293 – Financial Accounting (oh so practical) – Robert Jackes
Biol 112 – Unicellular Life (looooovin’ it!!) – Julyet Benbasat
Econ 102 – Principles of Macroeconomics (fascinating… reminds me of Socials 11) – Tsvetanka Karagyozova
There’s also the Biol 140 lab-courseĀ (surprisingly work-intensive for 2 credits) and the weekly 2-hour-long career centre session (I’m using the time effectively to get work done). Apart from classes there’s work with the Norm Evolution in Response to Dilemmas project. I’m also starting to, once again, pick up some physical exercise (swimming + soccer) and music (had a brief hiatus).
(I feel like I’m writing an autobiography
)
In the beginning of January, I sat in Wayne Goodey’s Biol 121 lecture for a couple of times. Something he said has left a strong impression on me. He asked us, “what is the meaning of ‘Tuum est‘”?
Now I know.
What you get out of your education and experience here is entirely up to you.

I love Rob Jackes; he makes Accounting so fun! I’m really missing Gateman’s lectures though. I find it can get a tad tedious in macro at times, especially if you don’t actively participate by volunteering answers to the exercises or asking her questions. Blame it on the Internet–my attention span’s too short!

I think you might mean Wayne Goodey’s BIOL 121 lecture! I’m in his section this term. He’s an interesting instructor – seems to have a fascination with etymology and takes the time to use that to relate new concepts to what we already know. Apparently he writes killer exams though – sigh.
Which organism did you get for Biol140?

@Jeff, I have to say that I’m not a huge fan of Gateman at all (just to put it nicely
).Tsvety’s really helpful with questions.. consider going to her office hours or speaking to her before/after classes.
@Lizzy, oops, yup, I meant Biol 121 (correction made, thanks!
). For the times that I sat in his lecture, it seemed like he really tried to make students think — by asking a whole ton of questions. Oh, here’s the interesting fact of the day: did you know that.. we went to the same high school (lord byng)?
I got the Dugesia spp. — planaria.. or flatworms. I think they’re alright. I’m gonna adventure into the Woodward library tomorrow!
