Life. Music. Updates.
The music goes on! Thankfully, my saxophone lessons with Stan Karp will continue, despite the abrupt changes in schedule as I head into the second semester of school in January.
Over the break I will be working on II-IV-Is (patterns), voice-leading, and most importantly, listening first then playing by ear.
Looks like I’ll be playing a whole ton over the break with Hank Crawford
(not literally)!

wow, you have lessons with stan karp? i had lessons with him last year, but had to quit coming to ubc….and since then, ive procrastinated saxophone playing for quite a while….with stupid financial accounting and all those ugly courses giving me stress….its good that you still practice so diligently and go to lessons..! i envy you…

Hey Peter, thanks for dropping by.
The lessons with Stan are going great — it’s quite a privilege to be learning from and playing with him. You’ve studied with him also? For how long? With which high school music program were you involved?
Hey, these ugly courses should be the perfect excuse to practise — shouldn’t practising take your mind away from these daily disturbances?
Let’s play together some time.

I’ve studied with Stan Karp for about an year and I ‘messed’ up, resulting in Stan Karp telling me it was the end of our lesson for the season. I emailed him back and he accepted my apologies + offered me for check-up lesson, but I still haven’t had the time to set a time!
and I went to Langley Fine Arts school. Its a great school, mostly known for the fine arts (almost all of the ‘art majors’ end up going to the finest and the most prestigious art schools such as Parsons, CCAC, MIAD, CIA, and so much more). The music program is also very good, and many students in the past end up going to Univ of Michigan with full scholarships, McGill, Eastman, Berklee, and many more. Sadly, its existence is virtually unknown to Vancouverites; its located in the small town of Fort Langley.
I lived in Place Vanier Robson 2nd floor for this year, and looking forward to staying here next year…if I make it into 2nd year Sauder…lol!
we should definitely play together sometime!
