Do You Sense the Irony in This Ad?

I don’t know about you, but there’s something odd about seeing a huge funeral services ad placed right next to a subway track with the words “come a little closer”.

Come a little closer, as in towards the ad — which would, as a result, give the innocent bystander a horrible, gory death?

Or come a little closer, as in uniting and comforting families after they’ve lost their loved-ones?

International Marketing

This is exactly why companies must research and find out about the many different aspects of foreign culture before entering into unknown territory. This would prevent situations like this from occurring.

The Best/Craziest Newspaper Classifieds Ads I Have Ever Seen! - Apollo Space Shuttle For Sale!

Here are some really wacky classifieds ads I saw last week from the Vancouver Sun.

When I saw this, I thought, “Wow! This is pretty unique.”

It didn’t really occur to me at the time that there isn’t a way to get in touch with the seller. I only realized that this was a practical joke when the following showed up a few columns away:

An Apollo space shuttle for sale?! Hmm… now that’s more than a bit odd. Look at the outrageous price :P Even a monkey is included. Could John Chow afford to buy this, I wonder?

Rainy Vancouver Weather during October - Most Livable City

The rain just goes on and on… this is typical Vancouver weather at this time of the year.

The gloomy gray sky has hovered above the city since the morning with no apparent end in sight for the rain. This rain, this slow and endless shower, is trademark Vancouver weather. It’s October, and the leaves start loosing their photosynthetic green. From this point on, the weather goes downhill as Vancouver (located on the west coast of Canada, right on the Pacific) gets bombarded all winter long with huge precipitating air patterns.

But look on the bright side of things: we rarely get any snow here! A “white Christmas” is almost unheard of in Vancouver. Again, being next to the Pacific Ocean plays a huge part as the water keeps the temperature here constantly between 0 - 10 Celsius. I guess I don’t hate the weather here after all. Look at the winter in Eastern Canada and the United States and compare it with the West Coast, the difference is night and day! We don’t even need snow tires.

I guess this temperate weather is another contribution factor in making Vancouver the best city to live in. The winter is “a bit” wet, but manageable, and the sunny summer temperature never exceeds 35 Celsius.

Well… I guess I appreciate our weather here after all.

Lord Byng Symphony Orchestra - Fundraising for Variety: The Children’s Charity

How long ago was this? During the 05/06 school year, if I can remember correctly.
